Double update Tuesday!

Could it be? Two major updates in one day?! It's true!

Feast not only your eye balls, but also your ear holes on this update. That's right... SOUNDS!
They all said I was crazy, they all said I couldn't do it. But here it is!

Granny Bash has entered the realm of AUDIO

Check the downloads tab for the latest release, or run the installed game from your desktop to get it to check for updates.

26/2/13

MENU!
There's a menu system in place now that handles launching of the game, and will handle many more things!

These things include:
Loading game assets as they are needed
Loading and transitioning between screens
Support for changing levels and adding new ones

The game has also changed to an installer/auto-updater model, rather than a few files with an exe. We can all appreciate how much easier this will be for players to get the latest update!

Note: I have only tested this on 2 PC's, one of which had the prerequisites installed already. If you find issues, send me info/screenshots to grannybash@outlook.com and I'll have a peek.

18/2/13 Update

I said it was going to take me all weekend, and here it is!

Fixed the cars movement to a point that I am happy with. Also gave the Grannies a little spin to make them look more random.

Next update:
Granny movement
Levels
Menu

Further down the track:
More mad paint skillz!

Enjoy, share and donate if you think this is going anywhere!

Email me at grannybash@outlook.com for suggestions, tips or abuse!

Shout out to Hobbsy for planting this oak tree sized seed in my head when I was a naïve kid in high school. Would not have thought any of this (game dev) would be possible without his guidance in my early years.

In Progress

So as it turns out, the physics involved in making a car move semi-realistically are pretty complex! I've been reading up on a few different methods of integrating forces and applying them to the car but it seems to be cocked up somewhere in the maths.

This may be more of a weekend task. Updates to come!

Minor Update

Latest Version:

Fixes:
Collision detection to properly interact between the car and grannies.
In progress:
Car physics. Working on making it move in a believable way. This is why it is all over the shop at the moment. Will hopefully be rectified tonight.

Next Steps:
Adding more functionality into the engine (granny behaviour, better reaction to being hit, spawn points/timers)
Proper level setup. Either properly setting up the random placement with roads or static levels.

Please donate to help push this thing along!

Hello World

Hey,

This is the first post on the new Granny Bash development blog!

We'll document the progress on the future indie smash hit that the world has been waiting years to see.

Follow us through all the laughs, blood, sweat and tears that will pour into making a game for everyone to love and enjoy.

About the game:
You are here to help and can directly influence the path that a person or town takes in development.
Someone is always out to stop you, and that's where the Grannies come in!
This is the game that I always wanted to play. It's about starting with something small and building it into something big. Then handing it on to others to take control and watching it blossom from a distance.
The games I want to play make you feel like you are important.
Granny Bash contains elements from many genre's, including but not limited to:
  • City Simulators
  • Zombie survival
  • Tower Defence
  • RPG
Hopefully we can put something tangible online that the public can download and sink their teeth into.
